To the editor:
I am very pleased to write in support of Judge Jeffrey Wait, who is a candidate for state Supreme Court. Judge Wait was elected city court judge for the city of Saratoga Springs in 2008 and was subsequently appointed to the position of acting county court judge and supervising judge for town and village justice courts. During his tenure on the bench, Jeffrey has established a reputation as a fine jurist who is at all times fair, reasonable, thoughtful and impartial. I had the pleasure of working with Judge Wait while he was a practicing attorney and have appeared before him in court, and I can assure you that he maintains his sense of humor even in the most trying of circumstances, and is always respectful of the attorneys and their clients.
Before taking the bench, Jeffrey practiced law for 21 years, both in private practice and public service. He served as an assistant district attorney, deputy counsel at the state Board of Elections and city attorney for the city of Saratoga Springs. In private practice, he handled many complex litigation matters in state and federal court. Not only does Jeffrey have trial experience; moreover, but he also prepared and argued numerous appeals. He is, in short, uniquely qualified to serve as one of our Supreme Court justices: He is an excellent student of the law, he is experienced, and he has just the right temperament. Maintaining the quality and integrity of the judiciary is of utmost importance. You can help further this worthy goal by joining me in voting for Judge Wait.
I would also like to compliment your fine newspaper, the Adirondack Daily Enterprise. It thoroughly covers issues in the Saranac Lake, Lake Placid area and adds to the ambiance of your beautiful setting. That Saranac Lake functions so well, despite being broken up in so many parts in various townships, it says to me that you have fine people there.
Very truly yours,
Richard F. Mullaney
