ESSEX - One of the Lake Champlain ferry routes between Vermont and New York shut down early Monday because of strong winds from Hurricane Sandy, but now it's running as usual, a ferry staff member said this morning.
Monday's last trip of the ferry between Essex and Charlotte, Vt., was at 5:30 p.m., about three hours earlier than normal. By this morning it was back to its regular schedule, with a boat leaving each way every half-hour between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. and every hour from 6 to 10 a.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m.
The company's ferry service between Cumberland Head and Grand Isle, Vt., and between Port Kent and Burlington, Vt., operated normally.
