SARANAC LAKE - The village Board of Trustees is looking for a new planning board member now that one of its members has decided to step down.

D. Scott Tooker, a six-year veteran of the board, sent a letter to the village Oct. 5 saying he would resign effective Oct. 31.

Tooker said it wasn't an easy decision to make but that he felt he was "unable to give the position the time and energy that it requires and deserves.

"I've enjoyed my term on the planning board and having the opportunity to serve the village," Tooker wrote. "And I appreciate all that I've learned in the process."

At its meeting Monday night, the village board "regretfully" accepted Tooker's resignation and approved a resolution thanking him for his service to the village.

Mayor Clyde Rabideau said he's asked village Community Development Director Jeremy Evans to suggest candidates to fill the seat. The vacancy will also be posted on the village website, and anyone who'd like to is welcome to submit a letter of interest to the village, Rabideau said.
