PLATTSBURGH - The Plattsburgh girls soccer team took a four-goal lead in the first half and never looked back on the way to a 4-1 victory over Saranac Lake in a Section VII, Class B quarterfinal game.

With the win, the fourth-seeded Hornets advanced to the sectional semifinals where they will meet top-seeded Beekmantown on Friday. Saranac Lake ended its season with a 2-13 overall record.

Annie Frenette scored the Red Storm's lone goal 33 minutes into the second half on a pass from Jenny Ward.

Saranac Lake goalkeeper Regan Kieffer made six saves as Plattsburgh held a 16-8 advantage in shots taken.
