NORWOOD - The Norwood-Norfolk girls soccer team scored two goals in the final 10 minutes Monday to secure a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over Tupper Lake.
Emily Laroe scored both of the goals to lock up the win and move the Flyers ahead of Tupper Lake in the Northern Athletic Conference North Division standings.
Norwood-Norfolk is 4-1 in league games and 6-5-1 overall. The Lumberjacks are 2-3 in conference games and 7-6 overall with league opponents St. Lawrence (Oct. 27) and first-place Brushton-Moira (Nov. 1) remaining on the regular season schedule.
Carlea Weaver and Alexis Sweet were credited with the assists, while Mickey Frego stopped nine shots in goal for the Flyers.
Plattsburgh 3, Saranac Lake 1
PLATTSBURGH - The Saranac Lake volleyball team finished strong Monday, but were unable to overtake Plattsburgh.
After the Hornets took a two-game lead with a 25-8 first game and 25-9 second, the Red Storm battled back to win the third game 27-25. Plattsburgh ended the match with a 25-20 win in the game 4.
Kylie Sapone had a strong match for Saranac Lake with seven assists, five aces and nine total serving points. Teammate Emily Fountain had four points, five assists, two aces and four kills, while Nicole Viscardo chipped in six kills, five digs and two blocks.
Kadijah Brown led all hitters with 10 kills for Plattsburgh, which improved to 11-4 with the victory.
Saranac Lake is 5-12.
