SARANAC LAKE - At halftime of today's Saranac Lake and Moriah football game, Saranac Lake High School will induct three new members into its Athletic Hall of Fame.
Heather Brewer, along with twin sisters Laura and Analise Zaunbrecher Reeves will join 100 other members of the Hall of Fame who have been recognized for their athletic achievements at the school.
Brewer graduated in 2001 and was a three-sport athlete who participated in soccer, basketball and track and field. She excelled in soccer and holds the school record for most career goals (55) and most career assists (34). Brewer led the Red Storm during each of the four years she played, and was also a two-time team MVP and Red Letter award winner. She was named a Champlain Valley Athletic Conference all-star three years in a row and was also selected a Class B all-state player for two seasons.
The Zaunbrechers graduated in 2000 and will be remembered as two of the best track athletes the school has ever had. Analise and Laura have a passion for running and they were key members of very successful cross country and track and field teams during their high school careers.
They both earned four letters in track and field and three letters in cross country. Analise graduated as the school's 1,500-meter record holder and Laura graduated as Saranac Lake's 800-meter record holder. The sisters were part of the 4x800 relay team that set the school record in 2000.
Analise and Laura were big contributors to teams that won Section VII titles in both cross country and track.
The Saranac Lake High School Hall of Fame accepts nominations every May, with inductees being honored in the fall. Committee members include Mark Farmer, Natalie Leduc, Bub McGrain, Frank Camelo, Mark Gilligan, John Muldowney, Jim Clark and Kelly Spadaro.
