To the editor:
On behalf of Common Ground Garden, I would like to thank the following dedicated volunteers who made the annual fall work day this past Saturday a success. Gardeners and friends shoveled and wheeled and drove screws, pausing in the cool sunshine for a warming and delicious potluck. Your hard work is making the garden a better place, year by year!
Gardeners Andrea Audi, Linda Brown, Patricia Coppola, Dana Fast, Jan Gaylord, Dan Gorgas, Denise Griffin, Kim Holmlund, Polly Kelting, Rachel Lamb, Heidi Pedersen, Hilary Ryan-Rusch, Janet Stein, Rich Weber and Joann White provided the man and woman power for the day.
Nate Parsons built two wheelchair-accessible beds in the Old Lake Colby Road site with the help of adjunct professor Jennifer Perry and Paul Smith's College students Joe Badolato, Zach Bice and Eric Brown.
Autumn Besio, Lyndsay Burgess and Kathleen Murphy helped make the accessible beds a reality and cheered everyone on with homemade baked goods and hot coffee. Barbara Ryan fulfilled a wish-list request by donating a picnic table.
I want to give special thanks to Dan Hausner and Brooks Worden, the site managers at the gardens, who organized the volunteers and brought great energy and enthusiasm to the work day.
