COLCHESTER, Vt. - Colin Delaney, son of Brian and Karen Delaney of Lake Placid, is one of nine students to be inducted into the St. Michael's College Alpha Chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon, the national mathematics honor society, on Monday, Oct. 8, in ceremonies in the SMC Hoehl Welcome Center.
Delaney, a senior mathematics major, graduated from National Sports Academy before coming to St. Michael's.
This 10th annual induction ceremony will feature a lecture on "Mathematics in the Game of SET" by Dr. Liz McMahon of Lafayette College.
St. Michael's is home to the Vermont Alpha Chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon, established in 2003. PME currently has some 350 chapters at colleges and universities throughout the United States. Math students who meet the requirements can be inducted into the society during their junior or senior year.The purpose of the Society is to promote scholarly activity in mathematics among the students in academic institutions.
