To the editor:
One of my responsibilities as chair of the Harrietstown Republican Committee is to search out and encourage others to seek leadership positions in state, county and town governments. It is a most daunting duty, and I take it very seriously. As a consequence of my task, as would be expected, I first look to others within the Republican Party. However, we are not opposed to endorsing members of the opposition party if we feel they are best able to do the job. A case in point is our past endorsement of Howard Riley, a leading member of the Democratic Party.
Bob Bevilacqua is enthusiastically supported by our committee for he has a proven track record, as exemplified by his thoughtful performance as a town councilman. No decision is made unless the beneficial consequences are weighed against the cost to the taxpayers. He is joined by the rest of the town board in working together for all of us. As a successful small business owner, Bob is keenly aware of the impacts that local government has on business.
You probably have heard advertisements on the local radio station. For some of them, the main theme seems to be "I will ... I will ... I will"!
We are all aware that there is no "I" in team, and that is how it should be.
Bob, and others on the town board, have shown that they understand this fundamental principle, and to watch them work TOGETHER makes me proud. I am keenly aware just how hard they work for us all. I encourage you to attend board meetings to see for yourself, for I am certain that you will agree that what I have said above is true!
I humbly ask that you join me and make Bob Bevilacqua our next town supervisor.
