October 5, 2012
Associated Press

KEESEVILLE (AP) - State police say they've arrested three men accused of a gang assault that left a northern New York man dead.

Lt. Brent Davison says 45-year-old Robert Rennie of Keeseville was beaten to death in his Adirondacks hometown on Aug. 26.

He says the leader of the attack was 39-year-old Paul Taylor, who's charged with second-degree murder and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Charged with first-degree manslaughter are 36-year-old Michael Rivers and 19-year-old Scott Denno. All three are from Keeseville and each also faces a gang assault charge.

They were arraigned today and are being held in the Essex County Jail in Lewis. Information about whether they have lawyers wasn't available.

Davison declined to discuss the motive for the attack or the weapon used.
