Logger training workshop planned in Newcomb

NEWCOMB - New York Logger Training is offering a Forest Stand Rehabilitation workshop in at the Adirondack Ecological Center on Tuesday, Oct. 30.

Ralph D. Nyland, distinguished service professor at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, will teach the class.

Nyland will present ideas for rehabilitation of cutover stands, creative examples of treatments (including herbicides, feller bunchers and traditional cutting) and methods of dealing with beech bark disease.

The afternoon field trip through Huntington Forest will look at the outcomes of various stand treatments over many years and allow for productive on-site discussions.

Participants are asked to bring their lunch and hardhat. A coffee break will be provided.

This class is approved for NY Logger Training Continuing Education Credit.
