"The girls tem had a few breakthroughs today," said Saranac Lake coach Joe Merrihew. "The girls team battled hard against the toughest Class C team in the league, Saranac Central.

"We made waves today, and with a few more weeks of hard training our girls team is looking to be real strong when it matters - the end of October."

The Red Storm girls recorded a 23-32 win over Beekmantown in the team scoring, but lost 22-37 to Saranac.

On the boys' side, Pelletieri finished in 17:26, trailing Colin Quackenbush of Beekmantown who crossed the line in 16:11.

Chris Willette (13th, 18:33) was the next-best Saranac Laker, followed by Max Paul (14th, 18:35), Chris Schneider (25th, 20:06) and Nate Miller (27th, 20:37).

The Red Storm boys suffered two losses in the team scoring, losing 17-42 to Beekmantown and 17-44 to Saranac.

"Our boys ran a very tough race today and put themselves in good postions against the two toughest teams in the league," Merrihew said. "Our lack of depth is our downfall, but we are making the best progress we can with the boys we have."
