Red Storm volleyball sweeps Saranac

SARANAC LAKE - The Saranac Lake volleyball team swept past Saranac on Wednesday, recording scores of 25-19, 25-18 and 25-23.

Emily Fountain, Shannon Stevens and Nicole Viscardo each had four kills to lead the Red Storm's offensive attack. Kylie Sapone had a strong night from the serving line with eight aces and 11 points to go along with her nine assists.

Fountain finished the match with four aces and six assists. Sarah Parker had three aces, seven service points and two digs and Samantha Martin racked up two aces, four digs and two kills.

With the victory, Saranac Lake improved to 3-6 on the season.


Beekmantown 3, Lake Placid 0

LAKE PLACID - Lake Placid's Serina Hayes had four kills and five assists Wednesday, but it wasn't enough as Beekmantown downed the Blue Bombers 25-12, 25-5, 25-8.

Shannon Ryan led the way for the Eagles with 11 kills, while teammate Emily Anderson had eight aces and eight kills and Michaela LaFountain recorded 16 assists.



Lake Placid 3, Seton Catholic 0

LAKE PLACID - The Lake Placid girls soccer team won its fourth game in a row Wednesday with a 3-0 Northern Soccer League victory over Seton Catholic.

Brooke Reid and Liza Marinis each scored goals in the second half to add to Kendra Manning's first-half goal that came just 1:44 into the contest.

Liz Leff had a strong game in goal for the Blue Bombers, stopping all nine of the shots she faced. Kelli Ryan had 12 saves for Seton Catholic.

Lake Placid improved to 9-1 with the victory.


Plattsburgh 2, Saranac Lake 0

PLATTSBURGH - Marle Curle scored two goals Wednesday to lead Plattsburgh to a 2-0 Northern Soccer League girls soccer victory over Saranac Lake.

Saranac Lake goalkeeper Regan Kieffer kept her team within striking distance with 16 saves. Plattsburgh outshot the Red Storm 22-3.

Curle opened the scoring in the 13th minute on an assist by Brooke Knight. She scored again in the 10th minute of the second half on a pass from Cierra Duquette.

Saranac Lake is slated to host Northeastern Clinton on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
