SARANAC LAKE - Village Department of Public Works Superintendent Jeff Dora issued an updated construction schedule Tuesday for a series of ongoing projects in the village.

This week, crews will be removing sidewalk and curb on Lake Street from Petrova Avenue to Mulflur Road. Crews will also continue installing curb and cidewalk on Academy Street and work on manholes and catch basins on Canaras Street, Park Avenue, Sheppard Avenue, Helen Street and Pine Street.

Miscellaneous minor milling operations will also be taking place through the end of the week on Clinton Avenue, Algonquin Avenue and Fairview Avenue. The streets will be closed to all traffic, with the exception of bus traffic, and on-street parking will be prohibited on these streets from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Next week, paving operations will begin on State Street and progress to Algonquin Avenue and Canaras Street on Tuesday, Oct. 9, running potentially into Oct. 10. Paving will then continue onto Fairview Avenue and Park Avenue, from Circle Street to Old Military Road, on Wednesday, Oct. 10 and possibly into Thursday, Oct. 11. Paving will also take place on Sheppard Avenue on Oct. 11. The paving operations will wrap up on October 15 and 16 with Helen Street and Pine Street being resurfaced.

The streets will be closed to all traffic, with the exception of bus traffic, and on-street parking will be prohibited on these streets from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Sidewalk and curb installation will also be done next week on Lake Street for the duration of the week.

Dora said the timetable for the paving operations is subject to change based on the weather and the operations of the Graymont asphalt plant.
