Blue Bombers boys soccer shoots down Seton

LAKE PLACID - The Lake Placid boys soccer team built a two-goal lead and held off a late surge to secure a 2-1 victory over Seton Catholic on Monday.

Shane McNierney put the Blue Bombers on the board in the 24th minute with an assist by Andrew Meister. Lake Placid extended the lead early in the second half when Nzoni Thompson broke through with an unassisted goal.

Noah Osbourne connected in the 65th minute for the Knights, but it wasn't enough as Lake Placid secured its second win of the season.

Chris Kordziel made 10 saves in goal for the Blue Bombers, who improved to 2-2 on the season. Keegan Briggs stopped 15 shots for Seton Catholic (1-1).

Lake Placid outshot the Knights 22-16.

GIRLS SOCCER

Beekmantown 3, Saranac Lake 1

BEEKMANTOWN - The Beekmantown girls soccer team scored all its goals in the first half on the way to a 3-1 victory over Saranac Lake on Monday.

Katey Snyder accounted for the Red Storm's lone goal after taking a pass from Sheila Decker in the 24th minute of play.

Kallie Villemaire scored twice and assisted on another to lead the way for the Eagles (3-2-1).

Regan Kieffer stopped eight shots in goal for Saranac Lake, which fell to 0-3 with the loss. Beekmantown outshot the Red Storm 17-7.

Tupper Lake 4, St. Lawrence 0

BRASHER FALLS - The Tupper Lake girls soccer team scored three goals in the first half and added another in the second on the way to a 4-0 victory over St. Lawrence on Monday.

Lindsay Maroun had a goal and an assist, while Christine Kelly, Krystal Gilbert and Skylar Trivieri each had goals to lead the Lumberjacks (1-1).
