NCCC runners earn No. 5 regional ranking

COBLESKILL - North Country Community College freshman Llaney Hernandez finished 10th and teammate Josh Cook placed 11th as the Saints cross country team traveled to SUNY Cobleskill on Saturday for the Steven Wade Invitational.

North Country placed sixth as a team with 147 total points. Utica College was first with 56 points and Union College was second with 57.

Hernandez completed the 8-kilometer course in 30:53.38 and Cook crossed the line in 31:03.56. Morgan Payne of Utica College won the race in 29:19.36 and Jesse Coull of Union was second in 29:54.69.

North Country was recently ranked No. 5 in the latest Region III men's cross country poll.

Other NCCC runners in Saturday's race were: Jeremy Jones (36th, 34:03.42), Jordan Haviland (62nd, 36:16), Octavio Navarro (69th, 37:10), Jake Kent (90th, 42:55) and Chris Elliott (99th, 55:27).
