PAUL SMITHS - The Adirondack Center for Writing and Paul Smith's College have announced an evening with author Russell Banks at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13 at the Paul Smith's College Visitor Interpretive Center.
Banks, who lives in Keene, will read and discuss his latest novel, "Lost Memory of Skin."
A prolific writer of fiction, Russell Banks's other titles include "The Darling," "The Sweet Hereafter," "Cloudsplitter," "Rule of the Bone," "Affliction," "Success Stories" and "Continental Drift."

The reading itself starts at 7:30 p.m. and is free to Paul Smith's College faculty and students, and $5 general admission for others. Books will be for sale, provided by the Bookstore Plus of Lake Placid, and Banks will sign them before and after the reading.
Before the reading there will be a special event where people may have non-alcoholic specialty drinks and appetizers with the author. Past authors featured in the Visiting Author Series, sponsored by Paul Smith's College and ACW, have included Rick Moody, Andrea Barrett, Terry Tempest Williams, William Kennedy, Steven Millhauser and Alistair McLeod.
ACW is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to promoting literature and providing educational opportunities and support to both aspiring and established writers in the Adirondack region. It provides workshops, conferences and readings throughout the year in locations all around the Adirondack Park. ACW is supported by its membership and public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts.
