Local blood for local people

September 1, 2012
Adirondack Daily Enterprise

SARANAC LAKE - Adirondack Medical Center will host a blood drive from noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 5 in the Redfield Board Room at the Saranac Lake hospital.

People who wish to reserve a time slot can do so by calling Sue in the lab at 518-897-2359 or email

It takes about 10 to 15 minutes to donate blood. AMC relies almost entirely on blood collected locally by the North Country Regional Blood Center, a service of Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh, to fill its medical needs including surgeries, infusions and attending to injuries. Blood drives are essential to maintaining levels for emergencies and planned surgeries and procedures.

The need for blood is year round. Blood cannot be manufactured; it comes from generous donors.
