Sexton concert helped Dewey

To the editor:

On behalf of Dewey Mountain Friends, I'd like to thank Martin Sexton and his wife, Georganne Calyanis, not only for bringing beautiful music to our region but for loving this place and truly becoming a part of it.

On Saturday Martin gave a beautiful concert at Lake Placid Center for the Arts, also taking time to call a live auction to benefit the campaign to build a new base lodge and improve trails at Dewey Mountain Recreation Center in Saranac Lake. It was a special evening, and we are very grateful.

We would also like to thank Lake Placid Center for the Arts for its selfless support of other community assets.

We're grateful to everyone who attended, bid and donated items for auction, especially Darrah Cooper Jewelers, Whiteface Club and Resort, Nils Luderowski, Artaic, Ray Brook Frog, Hyde Fuel, Doug Haney and the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Association, Ruthie's Run, Eco Living, Woodward Boat Shop, Adirondack Lakes & Trails Outfitters, the Wild Center, Placid Planet, Lake Placid Rug & Home and, again, Martin Sexton and Georganne Calyanis.

The generosity and spirit of the people who love the Adirondacks keep Olympic dreams alive for our children, and they make this a wonderful place to live and play.
