Small brush fire

A Juniper Lane homeowner uses a garden hose to put out a brush fire that scorched a small area along the edge of the woods behind his home in the Beechwood subdivision of Saranac Lake Thursday afternoon. The Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene at 4 p.m. with 12 members and two trucks. Firefighters used 3,000 gallons of water taken from a hydrant to extinguishe the blaze, the cause of which was unknown. Firefighters notified the state Deaprtment of Environmental Conservation and returned to the fire station by 5:32 p.m.
