SARANAC LAKE - Katherine "Kay" Sorgule passed away on Aug. 10, 2012, at the age of 89.
She was born Katherine Pembroke in Lockport in 1922 and lived most of her life in Buffalo.
She was an active member of the Roman Catholic Church and a dedicated Republican who worked as office manager for three Erie County executives: John Tutuska, Ned Regan and Ed Rutkowski. Katherine was a graduate from Buffalo State College (then Buffalo Teachers College).
She moved to Lakeland, Fla., after retirement with her husband of 49 years, Earl Sorgule. She lived there for 17 years until her husband's death. She returned to Lockport and then finally moved to Saranac Lake to be close to her son and his family.
She is survived by her son Paul, his wife Sharon and three grandchildren: Erika Sorgule of Philadelphia, Jessica Sorgule of Burlington and Leif Sorgule of Saranac Lake.
Katherine was predeceased by her mother Ellen; father William; two brothers: William and Gene; and her husband Earl.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, in St. Aloysius, 157 Cleveland Drive, Cheektowaga.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to Saranac Village at Will Rogers, 78 Will Rogers Drive, Saranac Lake, NY 12983.
