SARANAC LAKE - There is a bright new star twinkling in the heavens since the angels came to carry Dennis to his new home. He is now with his dad, and his light will shine on his mom, his brothers and sisters, their spouses and children, and his many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends, who all loved him dearly and will miss him so. His star will shine on the devoted staff at 78 Edgewood, where he lived and was blessed by the extraordinary care given to him there for the past 10 years.
His light will shine on the staff of New York state mental health offices and the medical staff and personnel of the Adirondack Medical Center hospital, whose care and compassion for him during his final days helped make the unbearable bearable for our family. We will be eternally grateful.
He was born Feb. 21, 1949, on Long Island and died July 28, 2012, in Saranac Lake.
Dennis loved his music, CDs, bowling, jigsaw puzzles, shopping for gifts and seeing his family. He loved the town of Saranac Lake, where he was welcomed and accepted. Now he will be happy forever dancing with the angels and, we hope, Michael Jackson, whose music he enjoyed.
A celebration of Dennis' life will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 17, at North Star Industries, 33 Petrova Ave., Saranac Lake. All are welcome. Donations in Dennis' memory can be made to the Special Olympics New York, Capital District (www.specialolympicsny.org), or the Special Olympics Quebec (www.olympiquesspeciaux.qc.ca).
Arrangements by Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, Saranac Lake. A family burial service will be held in Hudson, Quebec, at a later date.
With love and gratitude to all, his loving Mom and the Conway Family (Hudson, Quebec; Ottawa and Toronto, Ontario).
