July 27, 2012
Adirondack Daily Enterprise
Joanne Fa’avesi of the white team avoids a tackle by Maggie Myles of the blue squad during Thursday’s US Women’s under-20 national team rugby split-squad match at Ken Wilson Field in Saranac Lake. Fa’avesi, of Sacramento, Calif. and Myles, a Maryland resident, are among the 36 players participating in a training camp that runs through Monday. The contest, which ended in a 17-17 draw, kicked off the 39th annual Can-Am Rugby Tournament. The tournament opened this morning with matches in the over-35, over-45 and over-50 divisions being played all day on the Petrova Middle School. The tournament continues Saturday with games in Saranac Lake and Lake Placid and concludes Sunday with championship matches in Bloomingdale.
