SARANAC LAKE - The Lake Placid Phillies had the hot bats Wednesday, which they turned into a dozen runs in a 12-1 victory over Agency Insurance in the Saranac Lake Youth Baseball Association's Minor League championship game.
The contest was played in Saranac Lake on the Civic Center diamond, and Lake Placid led from start to finish.
The Phillies grabbed a 3-0 lead in their first at-bat and Agency answered with a run in its first trip to the plate to make it a 3-1 contest. Lake Placid then took control by tacking on four runs in the top of the second inning for a 7-1 lead, then scored five more times down the stretch to clinch the title.

The game was the rubber match between the two squads, who both posted a win and a loss against each other during the regular season.
Agency Insurance was the regular season champion and finished the year with a 6-3 record. The Phillies ended the regular season in a tie for second place and had a 6-2 record overall.
