A Ray Brook man is in Essex County Jail today after being charged in connection with an ongoing drug investigation.

Lake Placid village police, in conjunction with the Essex County Drug Task Force, arrested Michael E. O'Farrell, 39, early Tuesday morning without incident. He was charged with two counts each of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, both class B felonies.

The New York State Police Mobile Response Team assisted with O'Farrell's arrest, according to a press release issued by the Lake Placid Police Department. During his arrest, he was allegedly found to be in possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia. Police said additional charges are pending.

O'Farrell was remanded to county jail on $75,000 cash bail or $150,000 bond.

Last week, authorities arrested six people - including a Lake Placid man - who allegedly sold cocaine, Ecstasy and other narcotics to an undercover police officer.

The task force includes the the Lake Placid, Saranac Lake and Ticonderoga police departments, as well as New York State Police and the Essex County Sheriff's Department.
