Minor injuries as cars collide

SARANAC LAKE - Two people were sent to the hospital with minor injuries after a two-car collision near North Country Community College Thursday afternoon.

Village police said a 2012 Suzuki driven by Jessica Jeffery of Saranac Lake was making a left turn from Slater Avenue onto Dorchester Road when it was struck by a 2002 Chrysler driven by Patricia Thompson of Lake Placid, which was traveling west on Dorchester Road.

Jeffery was transported to Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake by the Saranac Lake Volunteer Rescue Squad for a medical evaluation. Thompson's passenger, Katelynn Thompson, complained of arm pain was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle.

Police ticketed Jeffery for failure to yield the right of way at a stop sign.

The Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene at 1:20 p.m. with two trucks and eight members, returning to the fire station by 2:07 p.m.
