First recipient of the Brooke E. Lyon Remembrance Scholarship awarded

Molly Atkinson, a senior at St. Regis Falls Central School and a student in the Health Occupations Program at North Franklin Educational Center, is the first recipient of the Brooke E. Lyon Remembrance Scholarship. Atkinson, the daughter of Dave and Lisa Atkinson of St. Regis Falls, plans on attending the State University of New York at Canton in the fall to pursue a career in nursing. This Scholarship, established by family and friends of Brooke E. Lyon in the amount of $2,500, is awarded to a student who displays great character and is entering the field of nursing.

Atkinson will be exiting the Health Occupations program with certifications as a certified nurse aide, American Heart Association Health Care Provider/CPR, American Heart Association First Aid, home health aide, alzheimer's tech, national EKG technician, phlebotomy technician, rehabilitation aide/pediatric assistant and 13 college credits.

In June, the Lyons' family will be presenting a $4,000 scholarship to a graduating senior at Brushton-Moira Central.
