SARANAC LAKE - Owen George Connally, 77, of Saranac Lake, entered into eternal life on Monday, May 28, 2012, at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
Born and educated in Troy, he was the son of the late Edward and Elizabeth Gainor Connally and the beloved husband of the late Margaret Letitia Perlee Connally.
Mr. Connally was a retired Troy police officer and was a member of the Troy P.B.A., where he had served as president for many years. The Owen G. Connally Award is presented annually to a graduating senior at Lansingburgh High School as well as to a member of the Troy Police Department who, through personal sacrifice and unselfish dedication, has enhanced the value and respect of the Troy P.B.A. organization throughout the community it serves.
He was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman and had been an instructor for hunting and archery licensing.
Mr. Connally was the beloved father of J. Michael (Karen) Lockhart of Argyle, and Erin Hayes of Watervliet; cherished grandfather of Alexander and Sean Hayes, Christopher Lockhart and Shannon (Harold) Barber; adored great-grandfather of Owen M. Lockhart and Skylar and Stacia Barber; loving brother of Edward (Gail) Connally of Lansingburgh, James (Jeanne) Connally of Salem, N.Y., John Connally of Lansingburgh and Thomas Connally of Melrose; and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service with Troy Police Departmental Honors will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, June 1, at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., at the corner of 115th Street and Fourth Avenue in Lansingburgh.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to The American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd, Loudonville, NY 12211 in memory of Owen George Connally.
