Eunice J. Tormey

SARANAC LAKE - Eunice June Tormey, 86, of 1277 county Route 60, Onchiota, died Monday, May 21, 2012, at Mercy Living Center.

Born in Vermontville on Sept. 14, 1925, she was the daughter of Hubert and Rhoda (Doty) Tyler. She married Hayden "Bing" Tormey on Nov. 22, 1946 in First United Methodist Church. He predeceased her on May 4, 2005.

In the late 1940s, Mrs. Tormey went to work with her husband at Tormey's IGA in Onchiota. She retired from the store in 1972.

Eunice enjoyed quilting, spending time with her grandson and walking her faithful black Lab, Trooper.

She is survived by one son, Hayden J. Tormey II of Lisbon; one daughter, Janet Ordway and her husband Ron of Onchiota; one grandson, Chad Ordway of Onchiota; several nieces and nephews; and a sister, Patricia Riley and her husband Raymond.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother, two brothers: Gene Tyler and Sonny Tyler; and one sister, Carol Shumway.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. Calling hours will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, May 24 at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake.

Friends wishing to remember Eunice June Tormey may make memorial contributions to Tri-Lakes Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
