Vacation Photo Contest deadline is May 10

April 26, 2012
Editorial by the Adirondack Daily Enterprise: Publisher Catherine Moore, Managing Editor Peter Crowley

We hope everyone has unpacked from their spring break vacations. If you haven't already done so, now's the time to flip through the photos you took on your excursion and send us that special one you took of the newspaper you packed for just this purpose - the annual Enterprise Vacation Photo Contest!

We need your photos by Thursday, May 10, at the latest. Then we'll have our staff vote for the best - our main criteria are originality, locale and photo quality - and we'll publish the three winners on our North Country Living section cover on Saturday, May 19.

We'll follow that with several weeks of other vacation photos you submitted. It's fun to see where your neighbors got away to this year and what creative ideas they had for presenting their hometown newspaper.

We're glad to be your vacation stowaway, as well as your vacation publicizer.

If your photos are digital, please email them to our sports and features editor, Morgan Ryan, at Keep in mind that we can't print low-resolution photos, so don't compress them.

If you only have your photo in hard copy, either drop one off at our office (54 Broadway, Saranac Lake) or mail it to Vacation Photo Contest, Adirondack Daily Enterprise, P.O. Box 318, Saranac Lake, NY 12983. If you want your photo returned, include a stamped, self-addressed envelope with your entry, and we will mail it back to you when we're done.

We ask that each family only submit one photo, and that you include your name, phone number and a brief description of what's in the photo, including the location and the names and hometowns of any people pictured.

As always, we'll give away prizes for the top three entries. Remember, only photos showing a copy of the Enterprise are eligible.

We'll publish the vacation photos in print only, not online. That's one more reason to renew your subscription or, if you live far away, to get a relative or friend to buy the papers for you.
