SARANAC LAKE - Robert K. Martin, 52, of 32 Franklin Ave., Saranac Lake, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at home.

Born in Saranac Lake on June 28, 1959, he was the son of Robert and Jacqueline (Miner) Martin. He married Wendy Fletcher Aug. 26, 1978 in Saranac Lake.

Robert worked for the village of Saranac Lake for more than 25 years. At the time of his death he was the Superintendent of the Department of Public Works. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved his "cartoons." He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was also an avid bowler and had participated in many local bowling leagues.

He is survived by his wife Wendy; two sons: Robert H. and his wife Carrie, and Dustin and his wife Darla of Saranac Lake; one daughter, Channa Martin of Saranac Lake; his father and mother, Robert and Jacqueline Martin of Saranac Lake; two brothers: Dennis Martin and his wife Sarah of Moriah, and Christopher Martin and wife his Jennifer of New Milford, Conn.; one sister, Michelle Kentile and her husband Brian of Saranac Lake; and four grandchildren: Tyler, Marissa, Brady and Tristanna.

Calling hours will take place from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 12 at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, April 13 at St. Bernard's Church with the Rev. Mark Reilly officiating. Burial will take place in St. Bernard's Cemetery at a later date.
