SARANAC LAKE - On Jan. 13, the Saranac Village at Will Rogers Duplicate Bridge Club celebrated its second anniversary and held an annual meeting and luncheon with 22 people in attendance.
The duplicate bridge club was started by Howard Hoffman, a former member of the American Contract Bridge League Board of Governors (and appointed member of the National Good Will Committee) after he and his wife Bertha moved into Saranac Village at Will Rogers' senior living community in 2009.
A sanction was obtained for the club so players can earn master points for the games played. Howard serves as club manager and game director, assisted by Linda Hagar. This past year, the bridge club averaged more than four tables each week with a total of 80 different people participating. A benefit game was held during the year which raised funds for the Saranac Lake Volunteer Rescue Squad.
