LAKE PLACID - Video footage helped state police nab a local man who allegedly smashed a glass door at a Wilson Farms convenience store and stole lottery tickets.

Ray Brook-based state police arrested Martin A. LaRose, 23, of Lake Placid, at 3:15 p.m. Friday and charged him with 14 counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a class A misdemeanor - one count for each lotto ticket he had on him.

Police said the arrest was made following an investigation into a break-in at Wilson Farms on Saranac Avenue that occurred at about 4 a.m. Thursday. Based on video footage from the store, they say LaRose smashed a glass door, which has since been fixed, and stole lottery tickets.

Investigators were able to catch up with LaRose when he tried to cash the tickets at the Hannaford supermarket across Saranac Avenue from Wilson Farms. Troopers said Hannaford employees had video footage of him trying to cash the tickets.

LaRose was processed by police and arraigned in North Elba Town Court before Justice Jim Rogers. He was remanded to Essex County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.

He's scheduled to reappear in town court Dec. 12.
