On Saturday the Tyler Leidig Memorial Cruise, which will raise money toward a basketball scholarship for a needy student, will be held.
You can ride around on two or three or four wheels. Registration is at 10 a.m. at Charlie's Inn at the Junction in Lake Clear, with the ride starting 11 a.m. and finishing at Charlie's Inn at 5 p.m.
Cost is $20 per motorcycle, $5 per passenger, or if you would just like to walk over and enjoy the fun, it will cost you $10 for the food. There will be music by a DJ that evening. Come and enjoy.
Charlie's Inn at the Junction in Lake Clear will have Steve Borst and Joel Perkins playing music at 7 p.m. this Friday and Friday, Aug. 26. If you happen to have missed them this past Friday, what a mistake. Come and really enjoy.
You have two more weeks left to enjoy Ed Wilkins' group that gets together at the Lake Clear Presbyterian church hall to "Come & Explore the Bible." They meet at 7 p.m. every Tuesday. Light refreshments will follow.
You have one more week left to purchase your tickets for the St. John in the Wilderness Church raffle. Prizes are: first place, a 10-foot red Emotion kayak; second place, a handmade Adirondack quilt and lampshade to match; third place, handmade Adirondack furniture; and fourth place, a custom-made 15-inch-by-15-inch cutting board.
Tickets are one for $2 or three for $5. They can be purchased from any parishioner, or call Sister Carol 891-2286.
The winner will be drawn at the last Mass held at Fish Creek Campground Aug. 28.
There will be no card party in August at the St. John in the Wilderness Church. The next one will be held at 1 p.m. Sept. 18 at St. John in the Wilderness Church hall. Mark you calendar.
Sister Carol will be hosting the annual picnic for the Catholic Daughters of America Court St. Bernard at St. John in the Wilderness Church in Lake Clear starting at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21. All CDA members and ladies of the area are invited to come and enjoy the festivities which will include Hawaiian dancers and games of bocce. So ladies from St. Bernard's, St. Paul's, St. John in the Wilderness and Gabriels Assumption churches, come and join in the fun. The Catholic Daughters of America Court St. Bernard Memorial scholarship Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday at St. Bernard's Church. All names in the scholarship book will be remembered at this time. All CDA members are asked to meet at the front entrance of the church and attend as a group.
The bookmobile will be at the Lake Clear post office parking lot from 11 to 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13. Stop and check out all the good reading material they have for you.
George "Chip" and Cathy Button of Lake Clear are the proud owners of a 1914 Model "T" Depot Hack which has won many prizes at various auto shows. Now the "T" has an invitation to go to the City Hall Plaza in Boston, Mass. on Oct. 1 to join the Cruisin' New England magazine auto show.
Chip will need to rent a trailer to haul the "T" to Boston. We are trying to get donations to help them go to this car show. Either see Chip or Cathy or mail a check (made out to Chip Button) or cash to P.O. Box 277, Lake Clear, NY 12945. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Chip and Cathy Button will be taking the "T" to Curtis Lumber parking lot every Tuesday for the Tri-Lakes Cruizers car show. That starts at 6:30 p.m. and runs until dark. The drivers of these vintage, classic and custom cars are very interesting to talk to.
Beanie Donaldson of Lake Clear recently had surgery. She is home, doing good, but will be house-bound for a month. I am sure she would appreciate a call, visit or card of encouragement.
Bob's granddaughter, Sarah LaClair, recently had surgery. We wish her the best on her road to recovery.
Lake Clear, Bloomingdale, Paul Smiths and Gabriels people are all invited to the Saranac Lake Adult Center for the evening meal, a picnic, held at 5 p.m. tonight.
Next on the list at the Adult Center will be Fun Food Facts with Karen Armstrong of Cornell Cooperative Extension. Dates for August are: 11 to 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23 and 30. Information about diabetic and healthy eating will be available. Everyone is invited.
Congratulations to Bob Skeels of Lake Clear who was named Carrier of the Month of July by the Enterprise. Bob delivers to the following areas: Bloomingdale, Vermontville, Franklin Falls and Onchiota.
At 7 p.m. every Tuesday, the Bloomingdale card players go to Saranac Village at Will Rogers for a card party. They meet in the lower lounge.
Everyone is welcome to come and play cards. A $1 donation and refreshments will be available. If you need transportation, the van will drive around town to pick up people.

Ed Hoyt called recently to tell me that his mother, Ruth Hoyt, is still at Uihlein in Room 301. She so looks forward to people's visits or even a card.
Gould Hoyt is recovering from his surgery and could use a friendly hello or a card. It might be nice for them to receive an anniversary card for their 63rd special day as you will notice in this column.
Ed Hoyt still is having back problems and could use some encouragement for his recovery.
