SARANAC LAKE - Tissot Construction was badly damaged by an early-morning fire today.

The fire started at 3:10 a.m., according to the Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department. The fire was out and fire officials were still at the scene as of 8 a.m., and further details weren't immediately available. From the road, the damage looked mostly to be on the building's interior.

The Bloomingdale, Paul Smiths-Gabriels and Lake Placid volunteer fire departments also responded to the scene of the fire. The Tupper Lake Volunteer Fire Department stood by at Saranac Lake's station, and the St. Regis Falls Volunteer Fire Department stood by in Paul Smiths.

The building is on county Route 47, at the intersection with state Route 86.
