For Bailey, a Lake Placid resident since he was 10 years old except for his years in college and time traveling with the team, it was his first time back in his old school since he attended it himself.

Johnson, who has lived in Lake Placid since she was a baby, has been to the school many times in recent years to ski and talk with students - including on the same day she returned from the Winter Olympics last February. She corresponded with students regularly and maintains a blog aimed at kids,

Cook is a native and resident of Saranac Lake. Unlike Bailey and Johnson, she has not yet competed in the Olympics but had her best season ever this winter.

(Editor's note: This article has been corrected to reflect that Johnson is not a native of Lake Placid but called it home since she was a baby.)
