Police: 18-year-old, 12-year-old snuck into Keene school for sex
By NATHAN BROWN, Enterprise Staff WriterKEENE VALLEY - A young Keene Valley man has been arrested and charged with breaking into the Keene Valley Central School twice to have sex with a 12-year-old girl.
Ray Brook-based state police arrested Kyle J. Kernan-Dudley, 18, on Wednesday and charged him with first-degree rape, third-degree burglary, second-degree sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child. Police said Kernan-Dudley and the girl entered the school through an unlocked window on Nov. 20 and 21, around midnight, and had sex.
Kernan-Dudley is charged with burglary for allegedly entering the school, said state police Investigator Steve Ansari; nothing is alleged to have been stolen. He said the rape and sexual abuse charges are based on the alleged victim's age, too young to legally give consent to sex.
Ansari said he believes both Kernan-Dudley and the alleged victim are Keene Valley Central School students.
Kernan-Dudley was arraigned before town of North Elba Justice Dean Dietrich and released on $2,000 bail to appear in Keene town court at a later date.
