Two Saranac Lake men sentenced for burglary

By NATHAN BROWN, Enterprise Staff Writer
POSTED: November 25, 2009

SARANAC LAKE - A Saranac Lake man has been sentenced to time served and five years' probation for stealing more than 100 DVDs earlier this year.

Franklin County Court Judge Penelope Clute sentenced James Lacey, 21, on Thursday. He was arrested in June and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny and third-degree burglary, and pleaded guilty to third-degree attempted burglary, a Class E felony, in September.

Police said at the time that Lacey stole more than 100 DVDs worth approximately $2,420. They said they found the DVDs at his brother Timothy G. Lacey Jr.'s residence; Timothy, 28, was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. It could not immediately be determined Tuesday whether that case had been disposed of.

Additionally, an 18-year-old from Saranac Lake was sentenced by Franklin County Court Judge Robert G. Main Jr. to five years' probation with participation in Franklin County Adult Drug Treatment Court on Monday for an offense on June 2.

Another 18-year-old from Saranac Lake was sentenced to five years' probation, 180 days in county jail and participation in county Adult Drug Treatment Court for violating probation on a third-degree burglary conviction. District Attorney Derek Champagne did not release any further details, citing their youthful offender status.

well beaudine maybe your family should just not steal...and stop worrying about which stealing will get you into trouble...stealing is always underhanded..not which stealing you are prosecuted for.

It seems funny those two are always in trouble for stealing yet they are not in jail where they belong,i would love to catch them in my car they would be left on the street pounded almost to death and a note this is what we do to thieves the next ones would think twice (maybe).
