‘Beakers and Seekers: Behind the Scenes in Antarctica’ at the SL Free Library

SARANAC?LAKE?- Mary Brown will present "Beakers and Seekers: Behind the Scenes in Antarctica" at noon Thursday in the Cantwell Community Room at the Saranac Lake Free Library.

Brown spent five months working at a field camp, Siple Dome in Antarctica, where she served as a meteorologist technician, helped run a small airport, was camp medic and prepared manifests for hazardous cargo.

Brown has a long distinguished career in the library world, recently retiring from serving eight years as director of the Clinton Essex Franklin Library System. In addition, she has been a lifetime lover of the outdoors and received extensive training in wilderness first aid and rescue.

People attending can bring a lunch and dessert and coffee are provided by the Hospitality Committee.
