Stairs, roof being fixed at St. Armand Town Hall

October 26, 2009
By NATHAN BROWN, Enterprise Staff Writer

BLOOMINGDALE - There are no stairs in front of the St. Armand Town Hall.

The old stairs, which were badly cracked after years of water getting in and freezing, have been removed, and new ones, which are designed so this won't happen, are going to be put in. For now, people can use the side entrance.

The drainage for water coming off the roof is also to be improved simultaneously, said town Supervisor Joyce Morency. A 550-gallon dry well will be put in the back of the Town Hall, and water will be channeled there, where it can seep into the ground.

It is estimated that the step project will cost about $56,000 and the roof water project about $4,000. The town will get a $15,000 member-item grant from state Sen. Betty Little to help pay for the work.
