ComLinks CEO charged with DWI in company car
By NATHAN BROWN, Enterprise Staff WriterSARANAC LAKE - ComLinks CEO Nancy Reich is scheduled to appear in Duane town court on Dec. 11 to respond to a charge of driving while intoxicated.
Reich, 62, of McColloms, was originally scheduled to appear at 7 p.m. on Dec. 4. Duane town Justice Bill Gori wasn't available for comment Monday, but the Malone Telegram reported Friday that Reich's lawyer requested the case be adjourned for a week. The Telegram also reported that Reich was driving a vehicle registered to ComLinks when she was stopped.
State police said Reich was stopped at 8:03 p.m. on state Route 30 in the town of Duane on Nov. 26, the day before Thanksgiving. Police said a breathalyzer test showed her blood alcohol content was .10. She was ticketed for driving while intoxicated and driving with a blood alcohol content greater than .08.
Neither Reich nor ComLinks spokeswoman Paula McNerney could be reached for comment.
ComLinks is a nonprofit agency that provides a number of services to people in Franklin County, such as support for victims of domestic violence and food for the needy. It also runs low-income housing developments throughout the North Country.

I heard told that she has recently sent a resume up to Alaska for a position with a certain Humane Society, or some such. But before she goes--and believe me, she'll run like hell--the judicial system [oh, and the IRS. (did i just say that?)] should leave no stone unturned in prosecuting her to the fullest. We've all seen what happens when white collar criminals are allowed to run amok: Enron; World Com; George W. Bush.

The board won't do anything. I'd bet money on it. God forbid we rock the boat and do something responsible.

Don't worry, the Malone Mutual Admiration Society of Educated Professionals will step in and provide the societal capital to make sure she isn't treated like a non-educated victim class citizen. The last thing they want to see is one of their own, get treated like a non-educated citizen. If they don't stop the insanity soon, the next thing you know people will want to see educated professionals get arrested for theft, when school boards allow our tax dollars to be lost, stolen, or misappropriated. If they don't allow our tax dollars to be wasted, they won't have any reason to consolidate them, and small towns will resist their future consolidation. Don't worry Nancy Reich, the Mutual Admiration Society will save you. You're their kinda gal.

Wouldn't it be a kick in the arse if ComLinks not only provided her the car but through official business paid for the drinks as well? Throw the book at her!

One last thing...I can only hope and wish that she will be held accountable by the board for endangering the viability and reputation of Comlinks and by the DA for endangering the lives of people on the road that night.

I hope that this at least lends a little credibility to the accusations of Reich's character. It is obvious to me as well as the majority of Comlinks employees that Reich struggles with making good decisions. If you think this is an isolated incident...think again.

It's incredible how much Reich seems to get away with, and how many decent people she has irritated over the years yet still retain power. I have to ask, after serving on many not-for-profit boards, how it can be that her board has not asked her to resign and given her a package that lets that happen. I cannot believe that the asset / liability equation still comes out with Reich in the positive category.I wonder how much more Comlinks might be able to accomplish for our communities if they weren't mired in the craziness and tension that their CEO has precipitated. Oh, wait, that's right. Her people made all of that stuff up. Silly me.

Why did it take so long for this to make the paper? And since when is The Malone Telegram the source for our news? Couldn't Mr. Brown call the state police? By the way, I think this woman should have been fired a long time ago. If she doesn't get canned for donating company money to politicians and claiming it was her own money, she won't get canned for a DWI.
