It’s that time of year — stay safe

June 17, 2008
By Dora Mose, brightonbuzz08@ yahoo.com
Welcome to this week's Brighton Buzz, and I’d like to remind everyone to play it safe now that we have some sunny weather. Use your sunscreen and wide-brim hats, stay out of the sun during the hottest times during the day, drink plenty of hydrating fluids, and take frequent rest breaks when you have to work outside. This week's feature person is Jeff Leavitt. I met up with Jeff this past week and had a chance to chat with him. He is in the sixth generation on his farm, Leavitt's Farm, on state Route 86 in Gabriels. Jeff is also one of our council members for the town of Brighton and is the owner/operator of Route 86 Towing, with heavy, off-road recovery. Jeff is planning to host an ice cream social this summer, so keep watch for the date and time. Ruth Woodward would like to remind all the senior citizens of the town of Brighton that Franklin County Assossiation of Senior Citizens is having a Senior Picnic at Sellars Field in Burke on July 16. Also, the Franklin County Public Transit bus will start running June 23, connecting this area with Tupper Lake, Malone and Lake Placid. You can call the Adult Center for further details and times of routes.
