Demonic possession

March 31, 2014

I found a syringe on the sidewalk the week before last, on my daily walk home from work on the Margaret Street hill in Saranac Lake. It was half-buried in the snow. I picked it up and looked at it....

AshleyBates.....you can shot IV drugs with an insulin syringe. Bethany313... you probably meant psychologist or psychiatrist. Neurologists don't do mental illness. Crowley's piece is inaccurate, opinionated and hateful.

GET OFF YOUR HIGH HORSE, PETER!!! Who are you to talk about the horrific and untimely death of someone's child, mother and friend? You just compared a sick person to a possessed demon!! I've seen you fall down DRUNK at the bar unable to utter your own name. You are free to post what you feel, what you believe. However, if you can't do it tastefully, please... for the love of Allah... Keep trash like what's above to your judgmental, square self... You know not what you speak of. M. Risha

Allow me to educate you on a few things. For starters, having been a LPN for over 10 years I can tell you that the diabetic needle you found is called a U100 needle and it's use is strictly for administration of insulin and it is IMPOSSIBLE to administer intravenous drugs such as the ones you are citing in your ignorant rant that you call an article. Secondly, as a very close friend of the PERSON AND FAMILY you felt the need defame to add weak credibility to your story, I am certain you are aware that your very transparent attempt at anonymity for them was poor at best and labeling her as a demon possessed lost soul was in EXTREMELY POOR TASTE. A bit of advice, perhaps consider the children left in the wake of this story, the loved ones who get to read the slander of a girl we loved deeply and tragically lost to such a horrible disease and above all remember, you live IN A SMALL TOWN ALSO, SO READ UP ON MATTHEW 7:12. Golden Rule applies to reporters too and she deserves better.

My name is Lori. You, sir have no heart, compassion, intelligence, or basic understanding of the human condition. You, sir are not qualified to even be in the position you are in to write about something you have no knowledge of nor understand. How Dare You.. may your children not suffer from your significant ignorance. KMAMF

Whether straight or gay we all die off. I do bow to your experience in the area of brain defects.

It's not surprising that you claim to have gay friends. what would be a shock is if any of them claimed you as a friend.

I once found a needle on the same block as the ADE newspaper building sits on. From this I can deduce that either there are diabetics nearby or EVERYONE at the ADE are injecting ****** in astronomical amounts. Probably selling it to our children too for that matter. Who knows? They could even be injecting unknowing passersby's with the marijuana? I do feel light headed? Could it be the concussion? or the fact that reading the ADE comments are like smoking CRACK cocain?

I really am disappointed, Sir, that you have neglected to mention one very important group in your article...the homosexuals. As we all know, all gay people are not only mentally ill, but also hard core drug users. Its possible that some of them may also be diabetic! Seeing as they have all of your qualifications for demonic possession, they must be inhabited by the worst demons! And you left them out? Shame on you! I would also like to congratulate you on perpetuating the cycle of hate and intolerance to the next generation. I was worried that this trend of acceptance might be starting to catch on! But I now rest easy, knowing there are people like you to make sure that that doesn't happen. Perhaps your daughter can start performing exorcisms on her classmates at recess? I pray that your daughter doesn't grow up and find she is afflicted by a mental illness...imagine what that would do to a person who's father taught them that that means they are possessed! Can u say "drug addic

You have to remember that every paper of any size has a fair number of readers who a living with some kind of mental illness, and that many of them already have trouble with family/friends/employers treating them as if mental illness doesn't have anything to do with the body. I was hospitalized with bipolar disorder a couple of years ago, and when I get mad at myself I often have trouble remembering that what I have is a legitimate illness, like a heart condition, and also that having a manic episode didn't turn me into some weird gnome who will never again be fully human or whatever. Everybody knows people who have some brain-related problem, chemical or structural, can be awful to deal with. It would be a step forward from there, I think, to equate "that person could use suboxone" with "that guy needs an angioplasty," or taking anti-seizure drugs for bipolar disorder with taking anti-seizure drugs for epilepsy.

One detail of the needle incident that seems inconsistent with demonic possession is the cap that someone put back on the needle before discarding it. On the face of it this seems like at best a demi-demonic act. Unless, of course it was some sort of nefarious plot to save the point for reuse by the next passerby.

Their own "rules" state that any letter or guest commentary needs to be factual...... why would an "editorial" be any different???

I'm a little surprised about all the comments about fact checking! Since when has any type of "news" outlets actually used "facts" in today's media! In fact, this editorial looks like a regular "news" story by today's standards!

I've read and re-read the article because it kinda seems to bounce around but I think what he's trying to say is basically that good people make bad choices. They allow themselves to be overtaken by evil instead of relying on a higher power to help them overcome personal problems. idk about many, but if you look deep into the eyes of pedophiles, hardcore drug users, drug pushers, murders, there is something just not right in their eyes.... overall, a very, very controversial topic --- drugs in Saranac Lake....

For you to insinuate that people who have or need needles are drug addicts, I am astounded at that comment! My wife crochet's almost daily and needs those needles to make doilies, trivets and such. If you've ever crocheted you know you can't do that and be high.

as a former meth user i can tell you it's not a easy way of life. your fooled into thinking you need the drug. you can quit, but it requires a strong desire to stop. many have quit. then there's others who are now dead. they refused to give up.
