December 13, 2013

If you’re still shopping for the children on your Christmas list, we have a suggestion: Cross off pellet guns that look like real firearms. They are not toys....

proper training is a parental responsibility not the state. we have to many laws now. parents that hunt usually train their kids well. all I was pointing out is that the guns are not a good gift.. UNLESS the parents step up to the plate..with the nuts we have all around we don't need to put any suggestions in their heads as for the comment on the crime I witnessed, I heard about it and don't even know who told me, or who it was so go ahead and report me. talk about going off without all the facts

This "News Paper" has repeatedly called for outright bans on many types of fire arms. After Saranac Lakes' the first murder in ten years is committed with a Base Ball Bat and a kitchen knife Pete is silent on the real assault weapons issue. The Mentally Ill are killing us.

It's past time for the Federal Government to license all "journalists" after a background check and fingerprints. We also must demand a 10 day waiting period on all "Op-Ed" articles so the central committee can review them.

Guns don't kill crazy people do! PS: You'll shoot your eye out!

OH and teenagers SHOULD be able to posses BB and pellet guns. who trained us years ago? Our Parents. Not the police, Not the STATE police, and certainly not scared people that hide behind hyper sensitivity.

Wow concerned, that was pretty harsh. Pete was writing his opinion, and he is entitled to it of course as you are also, but what makes you think he is not knowledgeable about the subject? he was just espousing a few facts. Of course they are dangerous toys, and should be handled with good care and restraint. In this new world of zero tolerance (WAY overused) and hyper sensitivity, we tend to jump the gun, so to speak without performing real investigation anymore. The Dirty Harry approach or shoot first and ask questions later has invaded the police in many cases. It's very sad. Years ago, a lot of kids had BB and pellet guns. It was no big deal. Now it's a crisis, (perceived).

I strongly disagree with you on your opinion that bb and pellet guns make a good present for kids.....SOME families that are hunters might get their kids one, and I think that's good as they most likely will train them well. i own guns so I'm not for restricting them but you must realize that a lot if not most of parents without a hunting background will just give their gun to the kid and never have the time OR the desire to teach them proper use of it.. parents today give their kids anything just to shut them up ....they say the pen is more powerful than the sword....you as an editor should realize that!!!!!!!!!bb guns and pellet guns are lethal weapons .i know of a guy who had a deer eating his wife's flowers so he shot it with a pellet gun and killed the thing in the middle of the summer right in the middle of the yard at high noon...he got rid of it I guess and wasn't arrested. please restrict your comments to an area you are knowledgeable.......
