November 22, 2013

The first of Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s announcements Wednesday in Lake Placid wasn’t too hard to predict but was no less welcome for that....

Perhaps it is time to raise the toll. Heck, the WF Scenic Gondola ride is $20, $10 for car and driver and $7 for each person is pretty cheap. The Mt. Washington Scenic Hwy is $25 for car and driver and $8 for each additional person. As bgkk75s noted, would love to see where the tolls collected have been going all these years. $500,000 to $600,000 collected each year fills lots of potholes

This highway has been in desperate need of repair for at least 10 years. It's about time the State got around to doing something towards solving the problem. This whole country is in need of infrastructure repair. Come on Congress, stop funding foreign wars and spend some moolah at home.

While I understand his interest in Whiteface and all the political hype that come with the name, I really feel the repairs to that particular attraction should take a back seat. The most traveled Adirondack road is route 86 and that stretch between LP and SL SHOULD BE an ABSOLUTE PRIORITY!!! 12 Million would do a h.e.l.l. of a lot there. And there are many other state roads that need attention before the Whiteface gets a face lift. Just my opinion!

I'd love to see an audit of the tolls paid. I find it difficult to believe that the money raised hasn't been pooled into a general state fund and used for balancing the budget.
