That decision will save consumers and government facilities millions of dollars (helping generate retail spending), use domestically produced energy (a national security plus)that is more environmentally friendly. sometimes you just have to make investments.

northernman: We're not thrilled about the possibility of such huge grants for these hotels, but we're still undecided. Is the entire Regional Economic Development Council model a waste of public funds? Maybe - not sure yet.

The difference with Franklin County, as we noted, is that its spending on the pipeline was irresponsible since, at the same time, it was borrowing $4 million to pay bills.

If the Enterprise opposes tax payer funding for private companies, when may we expect your editorial opposing CFA funding with taxpayer dollars for the 2 excellent hotel projects being considered for Saranac Lake?
