Beach move is worth a closer look

July 11, 2013

With kids out of school and temps in the 80s, this is the time of year when swimming at a local beach becomes part of a local family’s daily routine. It’s especially so in this muggy summer....

bjccd5- the feasibility study will look at all you suggest..... it is the first study that has to happen to figure those things you mention out..... IMO .... studies seem to rule or dictate what can or can not happen in todays world..... in other words... political!

This editorial is "assuming" that lake flower is dirty , and that kids won't be safe crossing the roads..... The Village has tested the waters here for the last two years and ALL the tests came back clean last year.... It was NOT an overcrowded beach in it's hayday..... That's an assumption too. . . The feasibility study will be paid most in part by the citizens that raised the 5000.00 .... there is no waste of money here! The ADE should actually go out and get an Unbiased opinion now and then..... Did they even go to the business owners? Did they interview citizens from the village? Pretty lame editorial, with shortsighted facts.... By the way , If they did their research they would find that Lake Colby was a dirty beach at times.... sewer runoff, hospital seepage.... Lake Flower is a running body of water that replaces itself quite often.... The study will tell all!

If you don't want the beach, just get Dave Gibson, Protect! the Adk's or the nature conservancy/Sierra Club involved.

Then it's guaranteed to cost taxpayers a fortune AND never happen.

Pro's/Con's.....doesn't matter right now. Wasting Tax Payer's money on a study that is putting the 'cart before the horse' is absurd, not worth a closer look!!! If the beach could come back to Lake Flower, too many obstacles block the very notion of furthering a costly study. We know the problems with safety, traffic flow, parking, water quality, space, pedestrian usage, restroom facilities...etc... now get some answers to those issues first, before you spend $$$ on moot issues if all the prerequisite move items are not attainable.
