Bark Eater hosts Saratoga in polo matchup

KEENE — An exciting polo match took place at the Bark Eater in Keene Sunday afternoon, and the host team saw an early lead evaporate in a 5-3 setback to Saratoga. The match was the second in as many days for the Bark Eater polo players, who were on the road Saturday in Middlebury, Vt. Sunday’s match, which included four chukkas, or timed periods each lasting 7 minutes and 30 seconds, was played under warm sunshine in a scenic venue surrounded by the majestic high peaks of the Adirondack Mountains. Four horse-and-rider combinations were on the field at one time for each team, and approximately 14 horses were used by each side during the match. The Bark Eater team featured Joe Pete Wilson, Sue Doyle, Brandy Wilson and Eddie Burns. Jen McCabe also played for both the Bark Eater and Saratoga, and was awarded a bottle of champagne for her efforts in helping out both clubs.
