Fan's note: "Good Luck! Don't die!"
February 10, 2014 - Chris Knight
Olympians get a lot of fan mail.
Saranac Lake ski jumper Peter Frenette and his roommate at the Sochi games, Anders Johnson, posted photos of their room in the Mountain Village on Twitter that show some of the notes of encouragement they've received from fans.
"Good luck. Go for the gold!" reads one in a stack of blue sticky notes Frenette laid out on his bed. "You're awesome," says another.
"A nice pile of good luck notes put a smile on my face," Frenette tweeted. "Thanks everyone for the support!"
Then he posted this one, saying "I think this is my favorite."
That's right, it read "Good Luck USA! Don't Die!"
The same note can be seen stuck to the top of the mirror, along with other notes and pictures, in a photo Johnson posted to Twitter.
Presumably it's from a fan who'd been hearing all the concerns about security and terrorist threats to the games.
Frenette, Johnson and Nick Alexander all made it to the first round of normal hill jumping, but failed to advance to the final. For that and other stories from the first weekend of the games, visit the Enterprise Winter Olympics page by clicking here.
