Thanksgiving Good Guys List
November 27, 2013 - John Stack
Good guys This year I start out with the ambulance crew from the Indian Lake Volunteer Ambulance squad. We unfortunately had to use their services, and the EMT on call and the driver Chuck Bruso were absolutely incredible, great, kind hearted people.
My wife Kathy who I don’t know what I would do without her.(Along with new good guy Dan Sullivan who married us) Phil Gallo showing agin he’s about the toughest guy I know and the best training partner one could ever ask for. Beth Donnelly as the other ½ of my running three amigos. In that vein, of course Wes Wilson (he did an Ironman you know) and Bill Peer for being great friends and sometimes training partners. Andy Pickering, for taking up the reins of the Summer Fun Runs from (good guys) Rick Preston and Joanne Johnson from Adirondack medical and not missing a beat an infusing a ton of young energy into the races.
Kenny and Tricia Fontana, among other things, to continue paying my son for working at the Blue Moon and understanding his need to take time off to play football. Tim Baker for being a good friend and a help for everything electronic/media oriented. Keane and Kasey Riley for running the great Rock Shop. I found out some new things about Dermot Morgan, and he has helped me see that many people do things you never know and they are great people for it. Adam Harris for continuing to run both the bar Grizle t’s and the Baracho Taco and keeping his roots right here.
Kenny of Placid Planet and not just for the jersey – but for putting on a great time trial series and a great after party when the series ended for the year. I hadn’t ridden the trials much in years, and I can’t wait for it to start up again. Brian of High Peaks – what can I say – a great run of 30 plus years for a low cost-well run mini try every Monday summer night. Nancie Battaglia – for being Nancie. Brian McDonnell for continuing to grow the VIC in Paul Smiths. Great new trails! Sarah Keyes for being such a true, nice person. I find out offhand she was in Americorps back in the day. Of course she was. New friend Loring “Mr 6er” Porter and his wife Colleen. A great couple who seem made for each other and who are great friends as competitors and who will push you harder than you ever wanted to (especially the last 60 yards of a minitri…I hate you Colleen!!) As always, Carol Vossler from BluSeed studios (check out Thursday Open Mic nights!). Dick from Sturdy’s . All my buddies from The Zambonis who continue to rock Hockey Rock, no matter the lineup. Unfortunately, my good friend Tom (all-time good guy) has stepped away from the band, but no one ever really steps away or leaves the Zambonis. The executive board at Adirondack Habitat for humanity who all have great hearts and really are committed to the cause. My friends and family who have served our great nation in the armed services. Peter Crowley who actually prints my stuff while I really know he must be just stuck for something to fill the left side of page 4 weekly.
My best friends from high school, Ron Miller and Jason Foster. Ron is back at near full strength after getting a kidney last year from (good guy) brother Rick. Jay has been through a lot, and continues to be a great dad, which is all that matters really. Even when I destroyed him riding up to the Whiteface tollgate! (I’ve known him over 30 years, he would expect that encouragement)
My best friend Craig Chevalier of Chevastack Enterprises who seems to always be there for me regardless of the crazy situations such as trying to find Cherry Coke late at night. His his lovely wife Terry who is my wife’s best friend and a great person notwithstanding being married to Craig. Of course to my four siblings (Brij, Jenn, Bill and Kath)who I don’t know how I would survive without each and every one of you. My mother, who back in April was given a week to live, who now is looking and feeling better than she has in years. Keep on proving them wrong Jeanne!!! My dad who passed away 12 years ago who was a good guy from the day he was born to the day he died. My incredible four sons and wonderful daughter and step daughter who make every moment worth living.
